As you float along at tree top height, you may catch sight of a variety of wildlife and interact with the people below. Where do we fly from?

Air to Air Africa – Hot Air Balloon Operators is based in the Cradle of Humankind, near Lanseria Airport (about 35km north-west of Johannesburg in Gauteng). This area is a World Heritage Site which includes Game & Nature reserves, on the banks of the Crocodile River. Taking off from the banks of Lake Heritage on Heia Safari Game Ranch, guarantees you will interact with wild life.

For large groups we can fly from a site of your choosing, if at all suitable be it your backyard or a field local to you.

Winter offer Group flight two landing per balloon Two flights per balloon .0.40/0.45 minute flight, The group are split in two. The first group will fly while the 2nd group follow the balloon in our passenger transport vehicles and swap on landing where ever that may be.	R1 450
Children Under 12 and/or under 35kg Children should be over 1.20 meters tall to see over the basket. Children up to 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian. We are unable to accommodate babies in arms, and advise against children under the age of 4.	R 925

Price of flight includes Tea/Coffee prior to flight. Sparkling wine and/or Orange Juice on landing, a breakfast and a commemorative certificate. Retrieval vehicles will transport you back to the launch site

Balloon flights take place in the early morning when the air is most stable and weather permitting. We meet 30 minutes prior to the launch time. View options

Meet the pilot

Eddie Jacobs qualified as a balloon pilot in Austria. He has flown extensively over Asia and Europe. He became a South African resident in 1994.

Eddie is probably unique in South Africa in that he has piloted fixed wing, balloons, thermal air ships and rotary blade aircraft.

He started flying for Air Trackers and was one of the first pilots to fly in the Pillansburg Game Reserve. He started his own operation Air to Air Africa cc and launched from Glenburn Lodge in 1999. Currently, he has three balloons; one 400,000 cubic feet balloon with a capacity of 16 passengers nick named the monster. 250,000 cubic feet balloon with a capacity of 12 passengers nick named daddy blue and a 210,000 cubic feet balloon nicknamed baby with a capacity of 8 passengers.
