Part of the attraction is going where none, or at least few, have gone before but the main reason cavers love their sport is that caves are so beautiful. Huge, glistening stalactites and stalagmites abound, tiny delicate crystal structures reflect the light of your lamp, iridescing with every colour of the spectrum, and the silence is broken only by the steady `drip drip' of yet another spectacular natural sculpture continuing its thousand-year formation.
